With a view to responsible and sustainable tourism, it is preferable to use public transportation for reaching Florence and for getting around the city.

 Otherwise, you can reach Florence by making use of the opportunities offered by car pooling, that is, accepting a ride from someone  who, for personal reasons or for work, is travelling toward your same destination.

Florence has recently pedestrianized its historic centre; in addition, not long ago, the new tram line connecting Scandicci to the centre started operation, for a ‘greener’, quieter and cleaner use of an urban centre with dimensions and characteristics that allow you to visit it easily, leaving your car at home.

Getting around by bus

The Bus service in Florence is managed by ATAF & LI-NEA. This means of transport allows you to move throughout the entire area of the city and its surroundings without using your car.

In this way, besides reducing urban pollution, you contribute to reducing traffic, promoting better mobility. There are also electric routes (electric buses), with less environmental impact, for moving around the historic centre.

 Tramway, finally!

 
 The Tramway is an ulterior means of transport that the Florence City Council has decided to integrate alongside the city buses, to facilitate travel in the area. The use of this means of transport, therefore, also helps to reduce the emission of pollutants, with a greater attention for, and awareness of, nature and the territory.
At the moment, only the Line 1 connecting Florence with Scandicci is in function.
The realization of Lines 2 and 3 is also planned.

Two wheelers, what a passion

Bicycles represent one of the most popular means of transport, capable of guaranteeing maximum respect for the environment with a view to sustainable and responsible tourism.

Florence is endowed with a network of bike paths that allow you to visit the city easily and in complete safety.

To hire a bike we invite you to look through the list of service companies. Worthy of note, finally, is the initiative “Mille ed una bici” (A Thousand and One Bikes) that allows you to hire a bike at one pick-up point and to drop it off at another. The service is run by the Cooperativa Ulisse.

Segway, what's this?

 Segways are electrically driven means of transport that combine speed of movement in the city, moving comfortably even in the historic centre, with respect for the environment.

Move slowly

Rickshaws are an ecological means of transport, respectful of nature, that allow you to move easily and in complete freedom in the city and to visit its most hidden corners.
