Do not miss the exhibition at Palazzo Medici Riccardi dedicated to Keith Haring and Paolo Buggiani in the background of an incendiary New York in the early Eighties.

An unmissable appointment: the exhibition of Palazzo Medici Riccardi and the Michelozzo's Courtyard explores from 26 October 2017 to 4 February 2018 the narrative that arose from the artistic encounter with a wide selection of works by Keith Haring, Paolo Buggiani and other authors.

Street art's artistic movement began in NewIMG 20171024 104502 York at the end of the seventies and Paolo Buggiani, a Tuscan artist born in 1933, along with Keith Haring and other artists, used the metropolis as an open-air museum.

The exhibition presents over 20 original works, saved by destruction and preserved by Paolo Buggiani. The works were made on the subway walls between 1981 and 1983. There are two works on the 1983 table made by Haring. There are also over 30 pieces of Paolo Buggiani on his projects in New York, a unique document. Work completed by some street companions (Richard Hambleton, Ken Hiratsuka, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Les Levine, David Salle) completes the project as well as a fine selection of posters.

As a symbol of the esteem and friendship between the two Masters, a precious Haring's drawing shows a man with wings and a dedication: For Paul. From that moment, Buggiani's flying character would become one of the pictorial subjects of the genius of Kutztown.

Made in New York. Keith Haring, Paolo Buggiani and co. The true origin of Street Art at Palazzo Medici Riccardi from 26 October 2017 to 4 February 2018.
