Christmas is coming and with this event approaching all the Christmas markets start, in and around Florence.

The tradition of Christmas markets comes from Northern Europe, especially from Germany and Austria, and it has lately becomemercato- di-natale very familiar also in Italy and in the countryside around Florence.

The most famous Christmas market is held every year in Piazza Santa Croce. The "Weihnachtsmarkt", German Christmas Market, will begin on November 23 and will end on 22 December with a continuous opening time of 10am-10pm and free admission. An event that brings every year, in the historic center of Florence, the typical Christmas scents and flavors with over fifty stands.

In the area around Florence many Christmas markets take place during December.

In Signa, the first German Christmas Market "Oberdrauburg" is scheduled for the end of November: Saturday 23 and Sunday 24, while in Scandicci Christmas markets will take place from November 30 to December 1 and again from December 13 to 15. Still in Scandicci the Advent market is open on Piazza della Resistenza from December 3 to 24.
In Londa the Christmas market (and the olive oil fair) is scheduled for December 8.
In Certaldo the Christmas market will be held on December 7 and 8, 14 and 15, 20 and 21. In Fucecchio the Christmas market will be on December 15 and 16.
In Greve in Chianti the traditional Christmas market will take place on December 8, 14 and 22, while in San Polo in Chianti it will be on December 15.
In the area of Mugello you will find Christmas markets in: Firenzuola on December 6 to 8, San Piero a Sieve on December 8. In Palazzuolo sul Senio traditional Christmas markets will be on December 1, 8 and 15. Last chance for Christmas shopping in San Godenzo on December 24.
