The 18th Century. A selection is the title of the new exhibition that takes place in these months in the Room of the Niches at Pitti Palace.

Fig. 10 An exposition with 18th century paintings was set up on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the death of Canaletto.

17 works were selected among the most important paintings presents in the storage and in the rooms of the Uffizi Gallery. The select paintings highlight the cultural movement of the Enlightenment that characterized the 18th century. In fact, religious works haven’t been selected to exalt the secularity of the century.

The widest section is dedicated to Canaletto. His Venetian views are compared with foreshortenings of Florence, Rome and Naples (favourite Italian destinations during the Grand Tour). Besides, you can admire numerous portraits and some exotic paintings.

It will be possible to visit the collection from February 7 to April 15 during the opening hours of the palace.

Moreover, the entry is included in the ticket of the Pitti Palace.
