Toscana Terra Etrusca is a new itinerary joining the hiking network in the Florence area.

4Tumulo-C-PratoRoselloThe route, in total about 90 km, starts from the connection with the Via Francigena near Fucecchio, ending in Fiesole, passing through the towns of Cerreto Guidi, Vinci, Capraia e Limite, Carmignano (Prato), Signa, Campi Bisenzio and finally Florence, following the path of the ancient Etruscan way that connected Volterra with Fiesole.

The presence of Etruscan settlements along the way is the typical feature of this itinerary: Montereggi, the Etruscan town overlooking the Arno basin, the burial mounds of Boschetti and Montefortini, in the Carmignano area, with the tholos tomb of Montefortini, Pietramarina, that was probably part of the communication system crossing over the Apennines, the Etruscan necropolis of Prato Rosello, Gonfienti, with its big housing complex, ending in Fiesole and its archaeological area after having visited the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze to admire, among others, the Chimera of Arezzo.

The Metropolitan City of Florence has developed the planning of the route and the on site signage, placing two notice boards explaining the map of the route, both in Fucecchio, at the start of the trail, and in Florence at the Niccolò Galli garden at Campo di Marte, before the climb towards Fiesole. Along the whole path there are signposts and sign stakes pointing the way.
The detailed description of the route (in Italian) can be found here.
