| A weekend in the name of art and good food |
The name of this series of events is Palazzo Strozzi and Chianti. Palazzo Strozzi is presenting itself not only as a place for exhibitions, but also as a cultural laboratory for the city of Florence and the entire Florentine and Tuscan area. A place for debate and discussion, where new opportunities, meetings and connections can be created.Piazza Buondelmonti in Impruneta, Piazza Strozzi in the very centre of Florence and the elegant rooms of the palazzo of the same name, will provide a splendid setting for two days of art, culture and good food, organized by the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi in collaboration with the Province of Florence and the Municipality of Impruneta. Here is a detailed programme of the event: Saturday 2nd July, Piazza Buondelmonti Impruneta from 5 pm. A creative laboratory in the square Free creative activities, open to children and adults, in the charming Piazza Buondelmonti, to stimulate creativity and imagination. The laboratory – an opportunity to exchange ideas – will be organized by the staff of the Education Department of the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi in collaboration with the Amici dei Musei di Impruneta e San Casciano. The Museo del Tesoro di Santa Maria (the “Museum of the Treasure of St Mary”) will specially be open for the entire duration of the event to allow participants to admire its incredible collection of rare and precious gold artefacts. The visit to the museum will be enriched by a special edition of the Carte d’arte (“Art cards”) of Palazzo Strozzi, created specifically for this event to encourage visitors to discover art in a different, engaging way. The cards will reveal little secrets about the works of art, pose questions and suggest games to stimulate the imagination. This very special day is made complete by a tasty early dinner offering dishes of the Tuscan tradition prepared by the Florentine chef Fabio Picchi and his “kitchen gang”. Reservation is necessary, cost of participation € 15.00. The day will end with a dose of good music, “food” for the soul, with the musical performance of the violinist Davide Quirici, entitled “From Baroque to Romanticism”. Sunday 3rd July, Palazzo Strozzi, Florence from 9.00 am. In the heart of the city, Piazza Strozzi will re-live for one day the atmosphere of the Renaissance, when it was known as the Piazza delle Cipolle (the “Onion Square”) and housed a fruit and vegetable market. This will be achieved thanks to Le emozioni del Chianti (“Chianti Emotions”), a “modern” market with approximately twenty stands, selling typical specialities and artefacts from six municipalities of the Florentine Chianti: Bagno a Ripoli, Barberino Val d’Elsa, Greve in Chianti, Impruneta, San Casciano Val di Pesa and Tavarnelle Val di Pesa. Not only the square, but also parts of the palazzo will be the setting for an incredibly rich programme of activities and events: Creating with clay in the Courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi The Courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi will become a laboratory, open to everyone, to work clay. By modelling and moulding, participants will be able to create their own work of art giving form to their creativity and expressiveness. The laboratory will be organized by the staff of the Education Department of the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi. At the exhibition: Picasso, Miró, Dalí. Giovani e arrabbiati: la nascita della modernità (“Picasso, Miró, Dalí. Angry Young Men: the Birth of Modernity”) you can go... on stage! Have you ever thought of what you would like to do when you grow up? Create your own puppet to give life to your dreams and stage your future. Picasso, Miró and Dalí were all patrons of the famous bar Els Quatre Gats in Barcelona, where puppet shows were a favourite pastime. Taking this as its source of inspiration, the laboratory invites participants to consider one of the fundamental questions of this exhibition (Who am I? Who will I be?) and to “give life” to their answer by transforming it into a puppet – representing the future – that each person will be able to take home as a souvenir of this experience in Palazzo Strozzi. Special entrance to the exhibitions for residents in the Florentine Chianti. Municipalities of Bagno a Ripoli, Barberino Val d’Elsa, Greve in Chianti, Impruneta, San Casciano and Tavarnelle Val di Pesa (Through ticket to both exhibitions: adults € 8.00; children and visitors between the ages of 7 and 18 € 4.00) FOR INFORMATION AND RESERVATIONS: Tourist Office of Impruneta: +39 055 23 13 729 promoimpruneta@rtd.it www.palazzostrozzi.org |
