All flavours

mediaOpen from 25th to 29th May 2011, the Festival will take place in two squares: in Piazza Pitti the artisans of gelato will be producing their most original and tempting flavours; in Piazza della Repubblica, instead, visitors will be able to enjoy industrially produced ice cream of the Tuscan company Sammontana, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.

On the occasion of this anniversary, a festival dedicated to gelato in Florence – once the capital of the Kingdom of Italy – is an event worthy of attention.
Fabbri – a historic company famous for its cherries in syrup – will also be present with an exhibition celebrating its long tradition.

Other companies, such as Carpigiani, will be presenting a ‘school of gelato’ – a Carpigiani University – with practical trials to allow everyone to produce their own ice cream.

The booths of the Festival will be open from 12.00 noon to midnight. For tastings, visitors must purchase a special Gelato Card for € 7.00 at designated stands in Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Pitti.

Together with tastings at the booths, the Festival will include other events in the city, activities for children, musical events and gelato-based happy hours.
