The exhibition in Pontassieve is showcasing a series of studies, drawings, sanguine sketches and oil paintings, a cross-section of the Master’s artistic output covering a period from the 1920s to the 1980s. At a time when both Italy and the rest of the world were dominated by informal art, Annigoni followed his own artistic path, choosing to represent reality through figurative art, focusing in particular on faces and building his fame on a very personal style, thanks to which great personalities, such as Queen Elizabeth II and John Kennedy, asked him to paint their portraits.
