Revealed Faces

busti The 2011-2012 edition is called Volti Svelati (Revealed Faces) and has been requested and promoted by the Amici degli Uffizi (Friends of the Uffizi) together with the Dipartimento di Antichità classiche of the Uffizi Gallery.

On show to the public in the Reali Poste rooms is a central segment of a series of classical sculptures from the grand ducal collection, portraits of emperors and private individuals, which have always accompanied ones walk along the corridors. In particular the exhibition brings to light and exhibits 44 busts which make up the “serie de’ Cesari in marmo”(series of Caesars in marble), the most beautiful and significant images of the “mai visti” Uffizi collection.

This selection of busts rivals with 23 other art works of paintings, graphics, portraits and self-portraits, which all prove how strong interest in antiquity was among the artists, and at the same time how they have the same direct references.

Within the exhibition there is an amusing work-shop for children and parents entitled Belli in busti. After visiting the exhibition, it is possible to enjoy creating a Roman bust, hair-do and clothes. It’s all free and you can learn while having fun!!

Belli in busti is open from 10,00 to 12,00 on Saturday 24th December and in January on Saturday 14th, 21st and 28th and Sunday 29th.

Admission is free but booking must be made in advance.
