“Filtered” Suggestions-Visions by Daniela Corsini

corsiniDaniela Corsini’s pictorial photographs interpret Florence and remarkable towns in its province with a new approach, which aims at rediscovering unusual and peculiar aspects of these places, rich in art, knowledge, and history, whose qualities are at times overshadowed by the fame and beauty of Florence.

This project, which is the result of this awareness, is displayed in a beautiful and original exhibition, which offers a knew point of view on the most famous images of Florence and on a beautiful “palette” of places which form its province.

Thus, visitors can admire the Castle of Linari in the Barberino Val d’Elsa district, the medieval towers of Signa, the Town Hall of Borgo San Lorenzo, the medieval hamlet or castle of Calenzano, the Castle of Incisa Valdarno, and the original Castle of Sammezzano, near Reggello, built in a Moresque style.
Then there are the extraordinary medieval churches of San Romolo a Gaville, in Figline Valdarno, Santa Maria a Chianni in Gambassi Terme, San Pietro in Mercato in Montespertoli, and San Michele a Dudda.

Daniela Corsini had also reinterpreted places associated with old crafts, such as wool processing at the Gualchiere of Remole in the municipality of Bagno a Ripoli or the production of terracotta in Impruneta, and places associated with the performing arts, such as Villa Caruso Bellosguardo at Lastra a Signa and the Teatro degli Animosi in Marradi.

And of course imposing monastic edifices such as the Abbey of San Gaudenzio in San Godenzo, the Convent of Bosco ai Frati in San Piero a Sieve, and the large Abbey of San Salvatore and San Lorenzo a Settimo in the Scandicci area have also been included.

Finally, there is the recent homage to Don Milani with Barbiana, in Vicchio, the swampy area of the Padule di Fucecchio, and the unusual “Archer’s Tomb” in San Casciano.

“RE-fractions” will also add a new chapter to the Filtrismo®, a current of pictorial photography initiated by Daniela Corsini.

Palazzo Medici Riccardi, from 5th to 27th November 2011, from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm.
