The museums of Florence and its province are run either by the Italian State, or by the municipality or by private bodies or foundations. This is not interesting for tourists, but they should know that it makes the difference for the admission fees.
For in Art and archeology students are admitted free in the State-run museums. Journalists are admitted free in State - and City Councli run museums, provided they show documents stating their activity. Disabled people and the person that accompanies can enter with no charge in State - and City Councli run museums. On your birthday you can get into a State museum without paying: you have this opportunity for the whole 2012. We remind you that you can book your entrance into the most visited museums ewith Firenze Musei (ph. number +39 055 294883 or www.firenzemusei.it ) but this reservation fee has nothing to do with the ticket. stance admission to State-run museums is free for everyone under 18 and over 65. There are reductions on admission tickets to museums run by Florence City Council for children aged 3 to 17, to young people aged 18 to 25 and for anyone over 65 years of age.
