Visitors have a number of options for exploring the park: on foot on pleasant hiking trails, by mountain bike, on horseback or, in winter, by cross-country skiing, with a trial network of more than 650 kilometres. With the autumn colours, a visit to the park is highly recommended!Some itineraries within the park are described below, including technical specifications and travel time: Acquacheta: The Acquacheta Falls, mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy, marks an interesting wooded valley. The starting point for this trail (no. 2) is the village of San Benedetto in Alpe on the Romagna slope, from which you reach the waterfall and then the Piana dei Romiti. The trail is approximately 4.5 km long (one way) and the elevation difference of the climb is 250 m. Hiking time is about 4 hours 30 minutes. The itinerary is recommended in the periods April-June; September-November. Castagno d'Andrea: An itinerary to discover the civilisation of the chestnut, a tree on which the life of entire families depended, as chestnuts constituted the dietary staple of the mountain people. The route (trail no. 7) has a total length of 3 km and forms a loop; the elevation difference of the climb is 150 m. Hiking time is approximately 2 hours. The hiking period is from April to November. |
