Ponte alla Carraia

This bridge was in the vicinity of the city gate with the same name, located in the penultimate city wall. It was named "Ponte alle Carra," or "Ponte alla Carraia" after the wagons that crossed this bridge daily carrying heavy loads of commodities and household goods.
This bridge, like all the others, with the exception of the Ponte Vecchio, was destroyed in 1944 by the retreating Germans and rebuild at the end of the war.
