Medieval Times at the Court of the Ubaldini at Palazzuolo sul Senio has now reached its 14th edition, reviving the feasts of the Middle Ages on weekends in the month of July (16-17-18 and 23-24-25).

The 2010 edition takes inspiration from the romantic epic Orlando Furioso by Ludovico Ariosto and follows the exploits of Orlando, crazed and in love with Angelica, the princess of Cathay.

Festival visitors can play the part of Orlando, Angelica, or Astolfo, the characters in Orlando Furioso, with medieval costumes ready to don, meetings with strange characters, and visits to the tavern to taste medieval delicacies.

The festival takes place amidst the uncontaminated nature and the village of Palazzuolo.

 Over the six days of Medieval Times at the Court of the Ubaldini, a variety of activities will take place, including historical archery, traditional games and music, artisans at work, as well as performances of excerpts from Orlando Furioso.

On Sunday 25th July, the Palio della Campana will be held, commemorating the insurrection of 1387 against the Florentines. Between catapults and jousting matches, the militias of Figline Valdarno, Guelf, and Palazzuolo sul Senio, Ghibelline, will face off.
Palazzuolo sul Senio is located on State Road 306, just past the Sambuca Pass.
