Capucci, new clothing

foto1A foundation, a museum, an exhibition: atop one of the beautiful hills overlooking the Arno stands Villa Bardino, dedicated entirely to Roberto Capucci, the renowned maestro of Italian and international fashion. From 14th January at the Museum of the Roberto Capucci Foundation, visitors can admire a new exhibition dedicated to the relationship between geometric volumes, fabric as a design material, and clothing construction. This is the spirit of the exhibition entitled Questione di Stile. Roberto Capucci Materia e Design (A Question of Style: Roberto Capucci, Material and Design).

At the museum with no queue

If you are not able to visit Florence during the low season (in November and in January-February) and you would rather not have to contend with long queues and waiting times at the museums, we recommend booking your admission to the State Museums of Florence, especially for visiting the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery.

Music resounds at the Bargello

0319-mp_bargelloThe Bargello National Museum will once again open its halls to music on Thursdays during the months of February and March. The concert festival entitled Ludwig Van Beethoven – Sonatas will present compositions for flute, violin, cello, and piano.

Florentine embroidery
ricamo
There used to be a time when women would arm themselves with needle, thread and bags of patience to sew and embroider: for work, to prepare their trusseau or for domestic needs. That embroidery tradition is still alive in Florence today, in small workshops of worldwide repute.

Carnival sweets

cenciFrom a gastronomic point of view schiacciata alla fiorentina (florentine flat cake), cenci (sweet "rag") and frittelle (rice fritters) are the kings and queens of Carnival.

A delight for children but loved by everyone, they make a fine show in bakeries and confectioner's shops. It is even possible to make them at home, it just takes a little good will!!
