The Central Market of Florence is a historical building. It was projected by architect Mengoni in 1874, according to the taste for iron buildings  of the second half of the 19th century.

In the large building all sellers of vegetables, fruit, meat, fish and legumes found a decent accommodation and since 1874 the mercato is a good address for buying fresh products and delicatessen.

The first floor of the building was empty and a complete restoration and new project of promotion have just been inaugurated.

The first floor of the Mercato hosts twelve shops or boutiques of taste, were artisans of food sell their preparations and fresh products.

Here you can buy or taste

mozzarella, every kind of cheese, fresh pasta, pizza and bread, chocolate pralines, deliciosu icecream, fruit and vegetables, fish, meat, the Florentine lampredotto and special organic sandwiches.

Quality, Italian origin, freshness are the real identity of this place.

A restaurant is inside, as well as a large cafeteria.

It is open every day from 10 am to one am.
