Fiesole will be a protagonist as well this summer, with the punctual return of Estate Fiesolana - Fiesole summer. This multidisciplinary festival is dedicated to quality and variety.

l anfiteatroFrom June 21st to next July 28th, in the area of the magnificent setting of the Roman Theatre, this historically fascinating place overlooking breath-taking hillside views, and many other places to explore, will also host major shows, bringing a real firmament of International stars to Fiesole. The artistic program is divided between music, dance and theatre with a line-up that ranges from interest in the local cultural productions to international artistic and cultural events.
Many artists in the past have had success in this exciting venue: Chet Baker, Severino Gazzelloni, Bruno Canino, Luciano Berio, Salvatore Accardo, Amalia Rodriguez, Carla Fracci, Rudolf Nureyev, Alessandra Ferri, Roland Petit, Maurice Béjart, Glauco Mauri, Valeria Moriconi, Anna Proclemer and Giorgio Albertazzi, and more recently Stefano Bollani, Cristina Donà, Paolo Fresu, Gilberto Gil, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, David Byrne, Pat Metheny, Hiromi, Inti-Illimani and many others.

In its 70th edition, the festival opens with a free concert performing the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole and Orchestra dei Ragazzi.
There will be Italian heavyweights like Daniele Silvestri and Fabrizio Moro, but also international big names such as Richard Galliano and Peter Hook. Worth mentioning is the special tribute to Homer's Odyssey, with six different events and classical music performed by the ORT - Orchestra della Toscana. The big guns of music will be alternating with emerging and promising Tuscan groups that Estate Fiesolana will bring to the stage for the first time as protagonists.

The Fiesole theatre, built after the Greek models, is the first ancient theatre in Italy to once again present classical tragedy with the production of Oedipus Rex from April 20, 1911.
